2020 workshop student research

The aim of this workshop was to develop a Swiss-West African e-learning platform. A design-thinking approach was used to evaluate educational concepts. Through a co-design workshop, the challenges of online learning were discussed and e-learning approaches were identified that could be suitable and of interest to West African users in Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Liberia.

Twenty-one students and 16 lecturers from West Africa and Switzerland met in an Online Workshop on September 4, 2020 to present and discuss the results of their completed master’s and bachelor’s theses initiated at the 2020 Winter School. Key findings were summarized, and opportunities for futher collaboration opportunities were discussed.

The four overarching themes that were elaborated on during the group case studies of the 2020 School – WASH, Climate Change, Agriculture, and Mining – were the focus of the group discussions and key findings were summarized in presentations.

Before the Online Workshop each student recorded a 30-second teaser and 8-minute video of the most important findings.
